This week my class really focused on learning the visual phonics that go with each letter of the alphabet. We are getting really good at saying each sound in the alphabet and having some fun singing along to "Who Let the Letter's Out".
In reading this week we tried our first rotation of centers. We got to do three different projects on Friday during our centers time. It was pretty exciting! We also added the word "we" to our sight word list. We now can read: I, Can and We!
We learned how to write a big and little M. These were very tricky and we had to work very hard to start at the top for each letter. If you have extra time at home please have your student practice their M writing!
In math we started graphing. Ask your student what happened when we made a bar graph to see how many girls and boys there were in our class. (On the day we made the graph two boys were absent making our girls win!)
We finished our four season's hand print trees during themes time. You should have found them in your students folder. Some of us got our labels mixed up but we tried our best and worked really hard on this one! I LOVE seeing the different sized hand prints of each of my students!
We read the book "Over In The Meadow" by. Ezra Jack Keats. The students really enjoyed this book. Here is a link to the authors website if you are interested in checking out other work by this same author: http://www.ezra-jack-keats.org/.
